The Battle of Midway was a major naval battle, widely regarded as the most important of the Pacific Campaign. The battle took place from the 4th of June to the 7th in the year 1942, exactly 6 months after the attack on Pearl Harbor. During the battle the United States Navy stopped an Imperial Japanese Navy attack on Midway Atoll , inflicting irreparable damage on the Japanese carrier force . This attack, like the attack on Pearl Harbor, was made so that the US would be eliminated as a major Pacific power, thus allowing the Japanese to establish it's Greater East Asia Co. However the battle did not go as planned for the Japanese, and the Imperial Navy was greatly weakened because of it.
